Explanation for Points:
Strength: Aldar is a powerhouse for a human. Tall at 6’ 6” and weighing 280 lbs, he’s all muscle. Trained from a young age in the ways of martial heavy combat to gain knighthood, Aldar is made for strength. During his time in captivity, some of his strength has dwindled, but he is still well above average, and intending to regain his former strength through training and diligence.
Speed: Aldar has never had a need to be speedy. Burdened with heavy armor and weapons, he focuses on perfect form and powerful strikes. His speed suffers for this, but he understands where his strengths lie, and cultivates them further to compensate.
Stamina: As with his strength, Aldar has been trained for heavy combat, including extended battlefield engagements in full armor. He can hold out in fights longer than the average human, but again, he has declined in this to some degree with his capture, and will need to redevelop his body before attaining higher levels.
Weapon(s): (From description)
Reckoning: A longsword found on his person at the time of his capture. It is of masterful design, with a hand-and-a-half hilt designed for ease of use with either one or two hands. The pommel is heavy, balancing out the blade. The guard is a cross formation, shaped into the visage of some type of roaring wildcat. The blade itself is no shorter than 120cm from a glance, featuring a double-fuller lenticular shape until the final third of the blade, where it gives way to a hexagonal shape, and finally a diamond shape where it tapers to the tip. Runes are engraved along the edges of the blade and in both fullers on either side, but these remain dormant, seemingly for decoration without compromising the integrity.
Armor: (from description)
Providence: A large suit of armor, seeming the final part of the set to go with the shield and sword. The hardened plates overlap in such a way as to leave as little unprotected as possible, with elegant ridges on the pauldrons furthering its protection still. It seemed designed to fit him like a glove, with as little excess bulk as possible. Once again, each plate was engraved with the same runes as the sword and shield, hinting at far more than simple decoration. Perhaps the strangest part, however, is that the armor is decorated with sunbursts exactly matching those that mark Aldarian’s flesh, though these are of gleaming gold ornament.
Benediction: A compliment to Reckoning, this kite shield is of an equally masterful design. Emblazoned on its front is a crest, a golden falcon with wings outstretched, the edges bordered with a solid golden line, leaving the rest the same gleaming shade of steel. On the other side, it was large enough to cover the entirety of his forearm and elbow, with a grip and a strap meant to secure it to his arm, making it not only a steadfast barrier against harm, but also a vicious bludgeon should he use it as a weapon. Alone the shield weighs an incredible amount, requiring two average men to lift it comfortably. Like the sword, its edges are also engraved with runes of some sort.
Notes: As with all armor, there are weaknesses, particularly in the joints of the armor, given a much lighter layer of chainmail that still leaves them vulnerable.
These are:
- Neck -- Gap between upper lip of breastplate and lower edge of helmet. To allow some freedom of movement, this also includes the innermost parts of the collarbone. This is perhaps the greatest weakness.
- Underarms -- Another big weakness in plate armor is at the shoulder joint. Where the tops of the shoulders are protected by the armor, the undersides are not due to the need to have some flexibility in order to properly extend the arm. This leaves the underarm, or armpit, area exposed and covered only in chain.
- Joints -- At any point where the armor is meant to bend, the inner part of the bend is exposed to allow the movement. Inside elbows, backs of knees and wrists are included in this. Due to the nature of the bend for the ankles, however, overlapping plates can be applied to cover this.
- Hands -- While the backs of the hands and fingers are protected by overlapping steel, the underside of the hands are given only chain gloves covered by leather to improve grip on sword or shield.
